Make Good Trouble by Jamia Wilson is about Protests throughout History.
Make Good Trouble comes from a quote by John Lewis, who went to multiple sit-ins at restaurants in order to make segregation illegal throughout the United States. Of course, the fight didn’t end with the Civil Rights Movement, it is still ongoing. Make Good Trouble not only shows recent examples of young people fighting for all types of equality, but also the young people you’d read about in history books.
The chapters are short, but so satisfying to read each chapter. Not all the movements end in success. Yet there are also people who received awards decades after their efforts.
Some efforts are more creative than others, like one girl who played the bagpipes around women’s prisons where women went to prison for voting.
There are also efforts in different countries that use different ways to cooperate. Some used Facebook, others used Tumblr, and others just talked to their classmates to walkout of their schools at a certain time.
Most people write books to show society as it is. This book is more to invoke action for present and future problems and to get information how the folks beforehand fought the good fight.
These book are available on audio and ebook on Libby.
