Medicinal Plants and Traditional Uses by Lenape Nation

Chief Barbara Bluejay Michalski, Keeper of Culture of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania will speak about the importance and respect of medicinal plant usage.  Lenape tribal herbalists (nentpikes) have long harvested native plants to treat injuries and illnesses. Chief Bluejay will share her experiences and elders’ knowledge with the plant nation.  Some of the plants that will be covered are bloodroot, cattail, mayapple, bearberry and jewelweed.
