Soil Heath in Your Garden -WTPL Green Gardening Series

We will be screening the webinar “Soil Health Evaluation” from the NJ Foodshed Alliance
OVERVIEW: Fred Schoenagel, Resource Soil Scientist with USDA-NRCS, discusses physical soil properties (color, texture, structure) and chemical soil properties (pH, fertility levels), along with certain site features (slope, soil depth, water tables, restrictive horizons) to determine whether or not a particular site is suitable for the successful establishment and growth of agricultural and/or horticultural crops.
After the webinar all participants will receive a Rutgers Cooperative Extension mail-in soil test kit to test their home garden soil fertility and learn what amendments need to be made.
